Risks of Memphis Apartment Living

Memphis apartments often come with many benefits including security and the spectacular views you can get on the top floors, but they also come with risks and these are risks you need to be aware of.
First of all, you have to remember that you are sharing a building with dozens, if not hundreds of people. As a result, just because most of your other tenants are safety conscious, it does not mean all of them are. For example, if one out of ten of your Memphis apartment neighbors are poor thinkers who lack common sense, then you are going to run into some poor situations if you have 100 tenants in a building. That means ten of those tenants are going to do something that could endanger your life, a life of a loved one or a life of a pet.
One of the greatest dangers of a Memphis apartment is fire. This is especially true if you live on an upper floor that makes escape a very difficult possibility. Of course, all Memphis apartments have stairs and some have fire escapes, but what happens if you are not at home and you have pets? Those pets will most likely perish in the fire. You can be the most fire conscious person in the world, but if your neighbor lets a candle fall on their bedding, then it won’t matter at all.
Noise is another big problem when living in Memphis apartment buildings. You are usually surrounded by a Memphis apartment on each side, above and below you and if only one of them is inconsiderate, then you will have to deal with having your peace and quiet disturbed by them. Often, this will not be a problem, but when it is, it can ruin your entire Memphis apartment experience and make you long to buy a home where you don’t have to worry about someone right next to you causing problems.
Another noise source is other people’s pets. Sometimes, when they are at work and you are working from home, you will have to deal with their dog barking non-stop because they are not there. There is little you can do about it, beyond alerting the landlord, and you will most likely have to simply sit there and wait for them to come home. If you bang on the wall, it will most likely only make the dog bark louder.
Moving in and out of Memphis apartments is a royal pain. It can be hugely difficult to move into a Memphis apartment with all your stuff as you try and fit large furniture into a small elevator, or try and lift it up a few flights of stairs. As a result, you should always do as few Memphis apartment moves as possible if you can.
Interesting smells in the hallway are another hallmark of living in a Memphis apartment building. Often, during the dinner hour, you will have several different people cooking and all these smells will mix into one in the hallway. While individually, they may smell great, together they often smell horrible and you will be rushing to your door to get away from them.
Memphis apartments can be great places to live if you are lucky enough to find a place that is quiet, safe and in a great location. However, as with houses, there are risks and sometimes you have to take the good, take the bad, take them both and there you have the facts of life…or Memphis apartment living at least.
As well, try and remember the risks of Memphis apartment living and make sure you do not do things to annoy your neighbors or put them in danger.
