Memphis Apartment Remodeling Within a Tight Budget

When remodeling a Memphis apartment on a budget a detailed plan isn’t always needed but you have to keep in mind what you desire as your end result. Take a look at a few aspects of remodeling and ways to save on your total cost. Before starting any projects on your Memphis apartment make sure you have your landlord’s permission.
First off be sure you pick one room at a time as multiple rooms may leave you confused and overwhelmed. Once you have one room done it becomes a little easier to see how the next will be accomplished. If you are unsure about your skills start with a room that is as out of the way as possible. The living room is the most visited room in the house so if you are experimenting try it out on the kid’s bathroom or even closet first.
If you have permission and are ready to start brainstorming the fun can begin. In the living room you will have curtains, television, couches, sitting chairs, coffee table and perhaps a rug. If you are tired of your old things don’t be too hasty to throw them out. Replacing is expensive. Your couches are a little old and have that nasty coffee stain on it from your neighbor and a tear on it from your dog. For just a few dollars you can pick out something to cover it. When choosing, be sure you have a theme or color scheme in mind so that everything coordinates. Consider covering your couch with a throw. Decorative pillows will add a nice touch and when you need to clean the couch you can remove and throw in the wash.
Now that the couch and sitting chair are done look at the coffee table. Even if it is old a little goes a long way. If it wobbles a bit of wood glue should make it steady. Next take a little sand paper and clean it up and pick out your varnish. Don’t be afraid to add a decorative touch to your coffee table. For instance a dark red varnish with a few black paint strokes and you have a unique table that has the symbols for health life and prosperity. If you decide you don’t like it you have still got a whole jar of varnish left, since a little goes a long way, and can start over.
Your television has more than one purpose because even when it is off it is a focal point in the Memphis apartment. The couches and your sitting chairs most likely face it. Framed photos and pictures will work well on the television stand or even on top of the set. Remember that no one will know where you got your remodeling material. Check out your local flea markets, resale shops, classifieds and yard sales. You can find pictures with decorative frames if you are willing to look do away with the art and use the frames in your television area. Remember that you can always add a little of your left over varnish or paint to coordinate with your coffee table.
Curtains are much the same as your couch. Whatever material you have picked out be sure and have something that complements it either in color or scheme. If you made your own covers for your couches take a scrap of material with you when finding your curtains. Curtains can be very expensive. You can buy the tassels or beads to decorate them at most fabric stores. The material itself, if you don’t buy curtains, can come from bed sheets you find to match. Just a snip here and there or maybe a stitch or two and they are ready to hang.
Don’t be afraid to try something new, but remember to make it easy on you so you don’t hate getting it done. Moving your furniture around a little and getting things good and always makes you feel better. When it’s done you’re ready to dream about the next Memphis apartment room.
