Decorating Your Memphis Apartment for Christmas
Jan 3rd, 2008 by Memphis Apartments
Ok, I am a little late with this one. Enjoy.
Christmas season is a festive time for everyone, for the most part. While there are often houses decked out with amazing light displays and lawn attractions, Memphis apartments are generally forgotten about, due mostly to the fact they only have a balcony to show off.
However, with the right kind of ideas, our balcony Christmas display can become a hit and even give some of those homeowners a run for their money.
First of all, in a Memphis apartment setting, your greatest friend is lights. Lights will give you the ability to really shine, no pun intended, at Christmas time. Get lights that are colored red or green, and make sure they are either LED or standard Christmas lights. String these in delightful patterns along the top of your balcony, or if you have them, around the bars of the balcony railing. Try and be creative and spell out Xmas or Merry Xmas on the balcony railing. This will truly make your Christmas display stand out because it will show how much effort you put into the entire project.
You may not be able to have a complete Santa, sleigh and reindeer but you can have at least a few Christmas figurines that can be used to brighten up your Christmas display. Try and having something small like a Santa who is waving to those who walk by, or perhaps a miniature version of the sleigh if you can. The other choice is to have a series of Candy Canes, lighted ones, to put on display on the balcony. If you don’t have bars for a railing, then you may need to get larger ones that will allow others to see them. If you put them on the railing, if it is wide enough, make sure they are secure for even the hardest winds.
If you know your neighbours, both above and below you, you can really create some amazing displays by pooling your collective balconies together. Unless a homeowner has four or five stories on their house, they are going to be unable to match the sheer size you will be able to accomplish with a little bit of teamwork. Get together with your neighbours, and string lights between your balconies, set up the Santa or candy cane figurines on top of your balconies or spell out something in the lights. For example, if you have four balconies (two on top, two on bottom) you can spell Merry Xmas To All on the balconies, which will really dazzle the eye of anyone who happens to walk by.
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, filled with joy and happiness. One of the favorite things for anyone to do is to decorate the place they live with a multitude of lights and other various objects. Just because you live in a Memphis apartment building, it does not mean you can’t take the time to set up a truly dazzling display. Why should homeowners have all the fun? If you can get together with others, then you can really make a cool display that will beat anything they put together.
So go out, get your lights, have fun with Christmas and make something that will put any homeowner to shame. It won’t cost you nearly as much because you don’t have as much space, but you can probably give the homeowner a run for their money for originality and Christmas spirit.
Use the strengths of the Memphis apartment building, size for one, to make something that will make others who walk by stop and look at the hard work and effort you put into your Christmas display.
