Looking for a new Memphis apartment can be a worrying experience even to those people who are of the forever-nomadic lifestyle. This is the reason why it is essential to make a list of what you will be required for your new place of inhabitance.
You can use the list of questions below before you check into a Memphis apartment. Some of these questions may be difficult to answer just by simple observation and may require interviewing tenants of other Memphis apartments in the same building or otherwise ask the opinion of an expert knowledgeable in building problems such as an architect or an engineer.
First set of checklist points for your new Memphis apartment
1. What would be the rent? Do I have to pay per week, month, quarterly, half yearly or yearly? Do I have to pay a security deposit?
2. Does the lease declare rent may increase if real estate taxes are raised, if water or sewer assessments are increased or for any other reason?
3. Do you have to make additional payment for things such as utilities, air-conditioning, parking space, storage space, use of recreation areas, master TV antenna connection, installation of special appliances, late payment of rent, etc.?

1. Is there a residential superintendent available?
2. Are there any restrictions in maintenance hours?
3. How is emergency service taken care of?
4. How will refuse disposal be handled? Are all the facilities easily accessible? Are they maintained well and kept clean?
5. Are there washers and dryers available? Are they in good working order?
6. Is the building lobby clean and adequately lit? Does it have a lock or is there other security provision? Is there a doorman if so, for how many hours a day?

1. Is an elevator available - if so is it in fine working condition?
2. Are the all the stairs well lit and in safe condition? Are there fire doors available on stair landings? Are fire exits available? Is there a fire alarm available or any other warning system?
3. Are the hallways clean and adequately lit? Are they if not in good condition?

1. Are the bathrooms plumbing fixtures in good working order and reasonably clean condition?
2. Does the hot water supply in the bathroom look adequate? Are the bathrooms tiles secure and water tight?
3. Is the kitchen sink in good working condition, sensibly clean, and provided with drain stoppers? Is the stove in fine working order and sensibly clean?
4. Is the refrigerator in good working condition? Does each freezer compartment have a separate door?
5. If there is a dishwasher and disposal, is it in good working condition?
Fifth set of checklist points for your new Memphis apartment
1. Is the complete building air-conditioned? If so, who takes control of the thermostat? If not, are there split units and are they functioning appropriately?
2. Are there sufficient electrical outlets? Do all the switches and outlets work properly?
3. Are there sufficient circuits in the fuse box to hold the electrical equipment you expect to install? If you are uncertain, try and get an expert opinion.
4. Are the heating systems in good working conditions? Is it providing sufficient heat? Who will control the thermostat?
